SLICKROCK
For the partners of this film production company the word "slickrock" has depth and a multitude of meaning. The word "slickrock" was derived from early settlers who arrived in southern Utah and whose metal-shod horses found the expanses of barren rock slick to cross. The sandstone is sometimes smooth, sometimes rough. But it always presents a challenge, and we seek the challenge. And we take a lot of inspiration from Edward Abbey who in his epic book Desert Solitaire describes the slickrock landscape, and we hope his words do not also describe our world of filmmaking: "It is undoubtedly a desert place, clean, pure, totally useless, quite unprofitable." |
