Sterling Van Wagenen


Sterling Van Wagenen was the co-founder of the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, and, in association with Robert Redford, he was the founding executive director of the Sundance Institute. From 1993 to 1999. 

Sterling was Adjunct Professor of Film at Brigham Young University, and manager of the University’s TV Group. From 1999 to 2004, he served as chair of the Film Department, then as Director of the School of Film and Digital Media at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He has served on the media arts panels at both the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts, twice chairing the Arts and Television Panel at the NEA.

Van Wagenen’s feature producing credits include the Academy Award winning The Trip to Bountiful, written by Horton Foote and starring Geraldine Page and John Heard; The Witching of Ben Wagner for the Disney Channel. He collaborated again with writer Horton Foote on Convicts starring Robert Duvall and James Earl Jones. As a director he has staged productions of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Othello, King Lear and Richard II. He directed the Emmy award-winning Christmas Snows, Christmas Winds for public television; the independent feature film Alan and Naomi, starring Lukas Haas and Michael Gross; the “Pioneers” segment in the IMAX film The Great American West.

Most recently, he directed parts two and three of The Work and Glory trilogy: American Zion and A House Divided, scheduled for theatrical release in 2005 and 2006.





Mike Fox, Savage Pictures

Mike Fox is the co-founder of the postproduction facility Savage Pictures in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Michael has 20 years of experience as a feature film and documentary editor and producer. In the late eighties, Michael began his career as a young actor. By 1990, Michael would begin to write, produce and direct commercial projects as well as several of his own independent film productions. In 1994, Michael was hired by CDI Media as a producer and editor. In 1996, he was hired as an assis tant editor for the Emmy winning CBS television drama, "Touched By An Angel" and became senior editor of the series and one of the pioneers for HD post production. In 2003, Michael joined the Editor’s Guild and teamed up with partner Steve Haugen to form Savage Pictures, with a goal of providing an LA post experience while specializing in HD and digital film workflows.
